On May 8, Liu Jinluan, a member of the Party Leadership Group and Director of the Guangzhou Municipal Meteorological Bureau, and Mao Songbo, Standing Member of the Huangpu District Committee and Executive Deputy District Mayor, held talks at the International Conference Center of Science City regarding the construction of the Guangdong-Hong-Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Sub-center of the World Meteorological Center (Beijing) and the Guangdong-Hong-Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Meteorological Technology Integration Innovation Platform.
Liu Jinluan stated that the implementation of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Development Plan will greatly promote the integration of politics, economy, technology, culture, and other aspects of the Bay Area. This plan aligns with global advanced bay area development standards and the goal of creating a high-standard, business-friendly, livable, and tourism-friendly environment. It sets new requirements for disaster prevention and mitigation and the integration of meteorological technology in the Bay Area. The construction of the Sub-center will be the world’s first World Meteorological Center (Beijing) sub-center in a bay area, and it will be a significant part of the cooperation between the China Meteorological Administration and the Guangdong Provincial Government. Leveraging the technical expertise of the China Meteorological Administration and the provincial and municipal meteorological bureaus, combined with the technological innovation advantages of the Guangzhou Development District, the Sub-center will be a globally influential hub for meteorological technology integration and innovation, playing a crucial role as a "gateway" for global meteorological services. The landing of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Meteorological Technology Integration Innovation Platform in Sino-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City aligns with its goal of becoming an international innovation center.
Mao Songbo welcomed Liu Jinluan’s visit and expressed gratitude for the support from the Guangdong Provincial Meteorological Bureau and the Guangzhou Municipal Meteorological Bureau for the development of meteorology in Huangpu District. Mao Songbo stated that the establishment of the Sub-center in Sino-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City is a major opportunity, and Huangpu District will give strong support. The project has already received policy backing, and a specialized team will be established to vigorously promote the preparation work for the project.
