On September 14, Chang Yue, Second-Class Inspector of the Guangdong Provincial Meteorological Bureau, and his delegation visited Huangpu District in Guangzhou to inspect the construction progress of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Sub-center of the World Meteorological Center (Beijing) (hereinafter referred to as the "Sub-center") and provide on-site guidance for the preparations for the 8th International Typhoon Operations Training Course (hereinafter referred to as the "Training Course").
Chang Yue listened to a report from the Guangzhou Municipal Meteorological Bureau’s Forecasting Department on the preliminary assessment of potential venues for the Training Course. He then visited the venues in person to understand key factors such as their qualification ratings, ability to host foreign guests, availability of halal food, surrounding infrastructure, and proximity to the Sub-center. He carefully reviewed the accommodation conditions and internal facilities, offering guidance on the selection process.
At the Sub-center project site, Chang Yue listened to a report from officials of the Huangpu District Meteorological Bureau on the latest progress of the project. He inspected the international training and academic exchange area in the Sub-center building, the wind tunnel laboratory, the underground parking lot, surrounding roads, and the meteorological observation base. He fully affirmed the achievements of the Guangzhou Municipal Meteorological Bureau and the Huangpu District Meteorological Bureau in the previous phase of work. He stressed that while efforts are being made to catch up with the schedule, it is crucial to ensure the quality of the project and safety in production. Chang Yue also called for enhanced coordination and communication with relevant departments of the Huangpu District government and the construction team, to accelerate the project construction, optimize interior decoration, and ensure that conditions are met for the start of the International Training Course by the end of October.
